SoHo Hosts Day 1 of McDonalds TX Invitational Basketball

Today was Day One of the McDonalds Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament, hosted at South Houston High School and other Pasadena ISD campuses. During the tournament,  80 teams from all over the state play over three days. Today South Houston hosted eight games, which included the teams Katy Tompkins, Cypress Creek, Dawson, Spring Branch Memorial (girls), Cypress Ridge, Lewisville, Clear Falls (girls) and South Houston High School Trojans Boys and Girls. 

Thursday was pool play. Friday is the beginning of bracket play, which culminates on Saturday. 

Here is a recap of each game played at SHHS today.

South Huston lost to Katy Tompkins, 31 to 67.

Cy Creek defeated Dawson,  72 to 55. Cy Creek came in with a boost of confidence but also some worries. Coach Dan Trocquet said, “We started off hot, but Dawson kind of crept up on us. We had some problems but adjusted them, and at the end we finished on top.” 

Spring Branch Memorial defeated South Houston (girls), 70 to 19. It was a tough loss for South Houston High School coach Naroda Knox, who said, “We just need to perform better.” 

South Houston lost to Cy Ridge, 43 to 62. 

Lewisville defeated Dawson, 71 to 53. 

South Houston lost to Clear Falls (girls), 24 to 66.

Cy Ridge lost to Katy Tompkins, 49 to 62

Cy Creek defeated Lewsiville, 78 tp 73.
