Playoff dreams ended for South Houston High School’s boys basketball team after a 67-63 loss to Travis High School in the Area Play-Offs on Feb. 26. South Houston stood 14-2 on the final standings. “We played a lot of good teams, [but] we had the best district record in our schools district,” South Houston HS coach Patrick McCoy said.

The Trojans earned a second seed after losing the district title game to Dawson High School on Feb. 12. SoHo went on to defeat Port Arthur Memorial 80-56 in the Bi-District Play-Offs on Feb. 23. This year’s push to the playoffs tightened the bonds between the players. “We might not look alike, but we really are brothers,” Nick Hernandez, a senior on the team, said. “We do everything on and off the court together… I’d die for them, and that’s what brought us this far.”

The following players were chosen for 2015-2016 All District Selections 22-6A.

Daniel Johnson: Offensive MVP, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Boys All Region Class 6A Region 3

Nick Hernandez: All-Academic Team, 1st Team All-District

Jalen Amos: Honorable Mention

Deontae Johnson: Honorable Mention

Terrell Washington: Honorable Mention

Kendle Hicks: 2nd Team All-District

Zach Miller: 2nd Team All-District
